Helicopter search sparks debate

Around 10PM last night – residents of Blackpool took to social media to discuss what could be causing a helicopter to be persisting in the skies above the coast at Blackpool.

Community member Steven King was at the scene and quickly identified for us that a search was being carried out along the coastline. It was believed to be linked to an earlier post we had all seen about a missing person.

It was clear by then that the helicopter was the Coastguard’s rescue 912 assisting the coastguard and RNLI in their efforts to find the missing person.

As of this morning Coastguard crews remain on the scene.
